Can Animations Be Triggered By DOUBLE Clicks?

Have you ever wanted an animation that would only be triggered by a DOUBLE click on a graphic? French Canadian teacher Christine Fournier needed a presentation for her pupils that simulated double clicking on a computer. Christine came up with this presentation which uses an ingenious method to accomplish the effect.

Download the presentation first and try it out and then we'll have a look at how it was done.

Look at slide 3. The race car is actually two identical superimposed cars. The top car is used as a trigger for FOUR animations.

  1. The top car instantly disappears
  2. The second car disappears after a short delay (0.8 secs)
  3. The button for "try again" appears after another small delay
  4. A transparent action button appears (the visble button is a group and cannot have actions applied)

Here's the trick the second car has an action setting of "next slide" and all other ways of getting to the next slide are blocked. So if the second click is on the second car the presentation goes on otherwise the "try again" button appears.

Note if the second car is clicked the "try again" sequence never happens.

If the presentation continues the next slide is a duplicate of the racecar but with a "with previous" animation. If the "try again" sequence runs the presentation goes back a slide to a blank slide with an automatic transition back to slide 3. This resets all animations on slide 3.
